3D Printing
Cost: $1.00 per ounce (3D items are charged on a per ounce of weight basis)
Design creation:
- Digital designs are available from various file-sharing databases such as Thingiverse.com, YOUmagine, MyMiniFactory, ShapeWay, and Onshape
- Any 3D drafting software may be used to create a design as long as the file can be saved in .stl, .obj, or .thing file format. Software such as TINKERCAD, 123DDESIGN, SKETCHUP, BLENDER, and Ultimaker
- The Library has computers and flash drives that may be used to create a design.
- Once completed, you will be notified and the items may be retrieved at the Circ Desk.
Submitting a design for printing:
Please note the Library will not print weapons or parts of weapons, sexual aids or drug paraphernalia, all such requests will be denied. All files will be previewed before printing. Any questions or changes that may need to be made will happen in this phase. It is difficult to estimate exact print times, but Library staff will provide their best estimate for time and cost of a job upon request.
Procedures governing the use of the Library’s 3D printers are subject to change at any time. There is NO guarantee of anonymity. Submitted files will be observed by library staff and, quite possibly, by patrons utilizing the Library when the file is being printed. The Library makes no guarantee for the timeliness of printing. Sometimes, a file will not yield a successful print. The Library assumes no responsibility for the outcome of a print job. The service is offered with the best of intentions but no guarantees.
